Adults in Scouting
Leaders
The most successful Scout Groups are those where there is strong adult support. Scouts volunteers are enthusiastic and dedicated women and men from all walks of life who share a love of adventure and a desire to enrich young people’s lives.

We are in need of new Leaders for all sections of the Group, to allow our Group to continue to grow. If you are a parent, family member, or member of the wider community, consider becoming a uniformed Leader of Scouts. Those who were youth members in the past might consider putting the uniform back and being involved once again in the fun and fulfilling role of leading youth.

Leaders need to be motivated individuals with a commitment to providing varied, exciting and dynamic programs for their Scout Group. Scouts Australia helps Leaders deliver on that commitment by providing training and support in all aspects of Scouting, youth leadership, programming and safety.

Normally, Leaders need to commit to Group meetings one night per week during school term, a monthly Group Council meeting, and a few weekends a year for outdoor activities such as hiking and camping trips.

Scout Leaders come from all walks of life, from parents of Scouts, to childhood Scouts, to people with no Scouting experience at all!

Adult Supporters
We are also always in need of Adult Supporters, non-uniformed adults who help out on a semi-regular basis.
Adults can help by:
-
Assisting with activities
-
Joining the Group Committee and/or assisting with administration
-
Helping to fundraise
-
Providing transport
-
Setting up and packing up from events and camps
-
Organising a Group excursion to their workplace
-
Assisting with catering
-
Offering their unique talents and skills for a Group theme night
Volunteering for roles such as these helps to ‘free up’ the uniformed Leaders so they can focus on planning and running activities, and providing youth members with the best possible Scouting experience.

If you are interested in volunteering in any way, please speak to one of the Leaders or contact our Group Leader Emma Solomano at gl.1strochester@scoutsvictoria.com.au or on 0427 707 018.
